WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation while the mind is fully aware and focused. During a relaxed hypnotic state, your subconscious mind is awake and clear in which you become more accessible to your inner voice and become responsive to suggestions to create beneficial changes in ideas or behavior. Hypnosis is a natural state. When we are deeply focused on one thing, like watching our favorite show on TV, reading a book, and driving on the freeway, we are also in a hypnotic state.
HOW DOES HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?
As a hypnotherapist talks to you to guide you to a relaxed hypnotic state, your conscious mind becomes relaxed while your subconscious mind stays awake. This state allows you and your therapist to have a communication with your subconscious mind or paradigm. In a hypnotherapy session, healing can occur because you’ll be able to access the memories in the subconscious mind to be healed and completed. Once the old paradigm or limiting beliefs are removed, the mind is receptive to new ideas and open to suggestions which encourage more sensible, balanced or helpful attitudes to the result you desire.
WHAT ARE THE CONSCIOUS MIND AND SUBCONSCIOUS MIND?
The conscious mind is a “thinking” and “intellect” mind, and it holds about 10% of our brain. The conscious mind is able to choose, accept, reject, and originate thoughts that come from our thoughts and external information.
The subconscious mind, aka emotional mind or paradigm, controls the involuntary functions, including habits and things that we do automatically and is typically formed when we are children before the conscious intellectual mind is fully developed. The subconscious mind holds about 90% of our brain and is fueled by our emotions and imagination. When we have emotional thoughts and feelings, it’s usually the subconscious mind that’s directing the energy to actions and behaviors. It also contains memories of every single thing that has occurred to us.
The mind works for us to survive, and it does a tremendous job to protect us for that reason. Many symptoms I see are a result of the protective mechanism in our subconscious mind. Although it’s great that we have the automatic program, when we no longer need the function or if it’s preventing you from what’s right for you, it’s time to release and start moving forward. There are other healing modalities such as daily meditation, repetitive affirmation, and visualization, but messages hardly go beyond the conscious mind because most of us are not trained to work with the mind and the patterns have been in your system for many years. In hypnotherapy, you’ll see the result in a short period by understanding the underlying cause and by directly talking to your subconscious mind. I'll also teach you tips for your daily practice of meditation and visualization as your homework at the end of your session,
HOW DOES BEING HYPNOTIZED FEEL LIKE?
Most people feel very relaxed, peaceful and comfortable. Your body is very relaxed while your mind is clear. It’s like an ultimate meditative state.
I HAVEN’T BEEN HYPNOTIZED AND BIT AFRAID OF WHAT WILL HAPPEN. WILL I BE UNCONSCIOUS OR LET GO OF MY WILL? AM I ABLE TO COME OUT OF THE HYPNOSIS?
This is the most common misconception about hypnosis. Many people think of an entertainment stage show when they hear hypnosis and think that people who are hypnotized are unconscious. Hypnotherapy is completely different from stage hypnosis. During a hypnosis session, you’re even more awake, and you’ll be in full control of yourself. You can never be forced to say or reveal anything against your will because you’ll be completely aware of everything while being hypnotized. It is a healing session for you. You can always come out of hypnosis since it’s a natural relaxed state. Some people also think the only weak-minded person can be hypnotized, but on the contrary, it’s not true because hypnosis requires concentration.
IS IT BENEFICIAL TO COMBINE WITH MY MEDICAL TREATMENT?
Yes. Symptoms associated with pain, stress or anxiety can be especially beneficial; in such cases, it's not a substitute for medical treatment, but a helpful supplement to it. Mind and body affect each other, and this holistic approach benefits the person as a whole. I also recommend Reiki therapy for recovery from surgeries, illness, and physical and emotional traumas.
HOW DOES REGRESSION WORK FOR PAST TRAUMAS AND INNER-CHILD ISSUES?
By regressing time, we can re-examine (without necessarily re-experiencing) events which influenced us at an earlier time in life. By bringing these memories to the surface, the subconscious mind is able to remove the negative effects and can be ‘reprogrammed’ for a better result. I believe regression is essential for healing and goal achieving to get rid of limiting beliefs and create a new outcome.

A session includes counseling and hypnotherapy. The number of sessions varies case by case; however, most people see results from several sessions when they’re able to examine a cause of the issues. Most clients experience healing when the old energy become reorganized into the new state of understanding as they re-examine the memories and allow new thoughts and behaviors to take place. You can choose either in-person or online via Zoom. Sessions can be in English or Japanese.
